The issue cuts right to the chase as the now skinny Clown (who looks a lot more believable than his previous incarnation I may add) fully reveals himself as the demonic mind that led the tenants to commit the horrific acts of the last few weeks. Spawn follows shortly behind capturing Clown quickly and does his best to get answers. After all, with God and the devil banished and unable to interfere, how exactly did Clown/Violator manage to come back to Earth and reopen Hell’s gate? Ultimately, Violator is fully unleashed and a spectacular, albeit short, fight scene with Spawn ensues, ending in a completely surprising manner given the traditional status of humans in this comic. I won’t spoil it for you but suffice it to say that it is a nice twist to the plot. The last in this story arc, there remain as many questions raised as there are answered. It's unclear what the writers are leading to here but they have told this arc so well that I can’t wait to see what they come up with next for our beloved anti-hero. Additionally much of the untold/vaguely remembered back story is revealed in this issue and it ties together tightly. Covering Jason Wynn’s history with Clown/Violator to his present form, it’s a fairly epic reintroduction of this classic enemy. If you have been following this new Spawn and have found yourself a little confused throughout the conversations, this issue will clear the air. Comments (0) |
