Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Apple might have had a hand in getting Justin Long cast in the new Live Free or Die Hard?  Long, once best known as the geeky Warren P. Cheswick on Ed (c'mon, do you think he wants people to remember him for Jeepers Creepers?), and now even more famous for his "I'm a Mac," is Bruce Willis' sidekick in the latest (and final?) Die Hard franchise entry.

The movie concept is simple.  Terrorists threaten our most basic freedoms by vowing to cripple the Internet (I'm not even going to go into the irony of that statement).  The only one standing in their way is Harrison Ford in Firewall.  Oops, sorry...  John McClane and Matt Farrell (Long).

How incredibly cool a marketing move it is, to have the spokesperson for the Apple computer saving the Internet.  I mean, his name even sounds like Mac.  Can't you see the introduction scene:

"Why are you so calm? Have you done that kinda stuff before?"

"Sort of.  John McClane - retired New York cop."

"Hi, I'm, uh, Matt.  Shouldn't we call for backup or something?"

"Makes too much sense."

"That's all you have to say?"

Sorry PC.

Yipee-ki-yay...
