So let me guess... dead Cap is really dead Skrull Cap? Figures.

(But based on the Fallen Soldier mini, Wolvie and Shellhead would probably have to be Skrulls, too...)

Brubaker has earned more faith from his readers than that. And hey, he's never gone out of his way to say that "Cap won't be back," but I think if/when it happens, he'll come up with a very smart way of bringing it about, with plenty of major consequences. He's that kinda writer.

But Cap couldn't have been a Skrull anyway. As faux-Elektra proved, once dead, Skrull replacements revert to their alien form. Cap's dead body was depicted in the issue after he died, and he was most definitely still human.

Hmm... I dunno man, I can think of about a half-dozen different ways it could have happened (and still be written convincingly). I mean, if the Skrulls have been trying to manipulate events on Earth, then "killing" the Star-Spangled Patriot would have been a good step toward demoralizing the populace.

I dunno, man; when they kill off the title character but keep the book going, I can't help but be suspicious.

Mrs. Marvel already said Cap is still alive in a S.H.I.E.L.D. hospital just in a coma.
I've read recently though that someone new will replace Cap and be wearing a more shiney costume.
I think they should just bring back Steve Rogers as Cap and than leave him alone as is.
