Do away with the crime-fighting superhero aspect as well, I'm pretty sure most kids can't 'relate' to that either.

I don't buy the 'single life more interesting' thing for a second. a lot of that change comes from age and responsibility. Spidey is (was) still young and wild, its just a copout.

By the way, how does this effect the Marvel universe? Are Peter and Mary Jane (and their friends whatever), the only ones who've been reset to their teen years, while all the other heroes are still the same age? So if Iron Man meets Spiderman in the next issue, will he not remember him, and he'll be meeting a teenager?

Marvel have a handy guide to the new status quo on their site. I don't think his age has changed. It's more like he took Path A (unmarried) instead of Path B (married) I could be wrong. The details still seem fuzzy. The guide mentions that Spidey still unmasked during Civil War, but no-one remembers what he looks like. What the?!He's still known by all the other heroes, but no-one else knows he's really Peter Parker. Yes, it's strange. I don't think anyone has been waiting for Spidey to become single until they start reading his books. He still swings around. He still fights crime. You're right tho - comics are abt adventurous escapism, not relatability.
