Six episodes of Origins will air following the end of the flagship show's second season, each detailing the life and discovery of another individual with superpowers. While set in the Heroes universe, each of these episodes will be completely self-contained, though it's been said that at least one of these new characters could be incorporated into the main show's cast in the third season. Smith had no details to offer of what kind of episode he would do, as the ink had not even dried on his contract for the show. His appearance was a complete surprise to the audience, and to most of the cast, who were on stage for the panel. Jeph Loeb, who moderated the panel, stepped backstage claiming to have the first writer/director for Origins to show them, and reappeared with Smith in tow. And the crowd, predictably, went berserk. A montage of video clips from the Heroes panel will be posted shortly, where you'll be able to see Kevin Smith's entrance for yourself, along with other notable moments from the panel. |

The big news to come out of today's hugely-attended Heroes panel is that Kevin Smith is the first writer/director to sign on to helm an episode of the spin-off anthology series, Heroes: Origins.
