"Desolation"
by Mary Dunn

From the artist: "Sometimes life leads us to be all alone with nothing but God. The tree in the painting depicts the way one can be alone and feel as though near death or having a desert experience; however, there is still life in the tree as some of the leaves remain. Therefore, when feeling alone, we are really not, as we have God watching over us even in times of sunsets or sunrises."

From the artist: "This piece is the second in a series of works drawn from Isaiah 61:1-4. He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. I attempted to depict the personal and vulnerable quality of being given an assignment from God and to communicate the potential to take flight as His vessel."
